This week, Facebook announced a new mobile app that completely overhauls the way users experience the social site. The idea of the app – called “Paper” – is basically to organize your news feed into a newspaper in an effort to make Facebook a primary news source. But is it really that big a deal?
People seem divided over the topic, with some proclaiming that this is another step in the right direction for the social network. Others claim that Flipboard has already created an interface that is very similar to Paper. The real test will be to see whether users adopt the app or not. Facebook has been trying to break into the content provider category – very recently, the company just released “trending topics” – and Paper is the latest in this effort.
