Time Will Tell

With school starting back up for me, this week’s TIME article, What College Students Don’t Know, caught my eye. Writer, David McNew, puts in perspective how far we have come socially, culturally and technologically from a college freshman’s point of view. The class of 2013 was born in 1991. In that that year the Iraq war was declared (and still continues today), apartheid was repealed and the Soviet Union collapsed. Using these historic events, David reminds us of how fast the future becomes the present and the present becomes the past.

Since 1991, a lot happened. Instead of trying to describe the past eighteen years check out Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod’s video on media convergence.

Did You Know 4.0

Karl and Scott do a great job capturing our current media landscape, as it is changing so dramatically. It is fascinating to think that just a few years ago many of the media we use today did not exist or was not so prevalent in our lives.  As everything is changing so quick and so dramatically—what will be shocking to the next generation? Only time will tell.
